Grianstad: The Ritual

As the summer solstice sunset falls on Beyond The Pale, we are inviting festival-goers to gather for a golden hour sunset event. Join the procession to the SUN-STOP installation, where we will welcome the summer solstice with a special solstice spoken word piece written for this moment by Una Mullally, along with musical guest Ben Castle.

Ben is an award-winning musician, composer, producer, arranger, and songwriter, playing saxophone, clarinet, and flute. He has performed, recorded, and worked with a huge variety of artists, including Radiohead, Blur, Sting, Diana Ross, George Michael, Quincy Jones, Elton John, Amy Winehouse, Grace Jones, Matthew Herbert, Kylie Minogue, Shirley Bassey, KD Lang, and many more. He has featured on film and television scores by composers including Hans Zimmer, Stephen Sondheim, and John Williams. He scored the documentary Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story, which in 2023 won the Grammy Award for Best Music Film.
